Everyone in your market believes the same thing about summer: nothing happens. They are about to be wrong together.
The slow season is a shared assumption, not a fact.
Ask any consulting or search principal what summer looks like and you'll hear the same word: quiet. Deals stall. Decision-makers are out. Everyone agrees to pick it back up "after Labor Day." That agreement is exactly why the season is an advantage.
When the whole field decides to coast at the same time, the people you have been chasing all spring suddenly have an open calendar and a quieter inbox. The board member answers. The CFO takes the coffee. The partner who never had a free hour has three. The firms that win the fall are not the ones who hustle hardest in September. They are the ones who used July, while everyone else was watching the out-of-office replies pile up.
Summer isn't the slowdown. It's the eight weeks your competitors hand you for free.
The Q4 pipeline is decided over the summer.
Here's the trap. Most leaders are too busy delivering to invest in the relationships that aren't urgent yet. So the summer gets spent heads-down on current work, and the proactive relationship-building keeps losing to whatever pays this quarter. Then fall arrives, the calendar fills, and there is no time to be early on anything. The pipeline that shows up in Q4 was decided over the summer. By someone. The only question is whether it was you.
Four moves for the quiet weeks.
You don't need a campaign. You need to use the weeks the rest of the field is giving away.
01. Deepen the key few. Go deeper, not wider. Pick your most important relationships and have a real conversation with no agenda. It lands differently in July than it does in the year-end rush.
02. Prep the fall conferences now. The events that matter in September are won in July. Line up the meetings, the dinners, and the intros while everyone else waits until the week before.
03. Reach back to alumni. Former clients and colleagues are the warmest pipeline you have. The summer is the natural reason to reconnect without it feeling like a pitch.
04. Reactivate the dormant. The contacts going quietly cold in your own network are worth more than any cold list. One honest note this week reopens a door that closes by fall.
On July 14, Nour walks through exactly how to run these without it eating the summer you actually want.
Sit With This
Ten minutes, today. Open your contacts and find five relationships that have gone quiet, people you genuinely valued and simply lost the thread with. Write one name you'll reach out to this week. Not a pitch. A reason you were thinking of them. That single note is the whole strategy in miniature.

See What We're Building
AVNIR · Relationship Intelligence Layer
The hard part of a summer relationship plan is remembering who's gone quiet before the door closes. AVNIR surfaces which of your most valuable relationships are cooling, who on your team already has the warm path, and which dormant contacts are worth a note this week. Not another CRM. The system that makes the quiet season actually pay off.
The fall you want is built in the weeks nobody's watching. Somewhere this month, while half your market is on a beach pretending not to check email, a few firms are quietly setting up everything that closes in Q4. It takes one open calendar and a reason to call. Pick the five names. Send the first note. We'll see you on July 14.
